Ways and Means Ministries
Ways and Means Committee
This Committee coordinates all community builders and fund raisers including Seafood Festival, Parish Breakfasts, Pancake Supper, Lenten Fish Fry, Christmas Bazaar and Craft Show, New Years Eve Party, International Dinner, Rummage Sale, Valentine Dinner Dance, Plant Sale, Hawaiian Luau, and Parish Family Events. The committee provides support and guidance to event leaders. Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Christmas Bazaar
Our second largest fund raiser: over $10,000 annually. Fifty or more crafters exhibit and sell their crafts. This is a one-day event with some set-up and preparation on the preceding day. Your lever of support is up to you. We require several people to set up the ACC for the booths, provide direction to the crafters as they arrive, and manage the Raffle for a few weeks preceding the Bazaar and the day of the Bazaar. Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Cooking Crew
Prepare food for all parish social events, including quarterly Breakfast, Pancake Supper, Fish Fry, Soup & Sacrament, Spring Festival, Rummage Sale and our Christmas Bazaar. Contact Person: Richard DiLeonardo 427-7511 or dileonar@cox.net.
Fish Fry
Our Lenten Fish Fry is a great social event which takes us back to the "old days", pre-Vatican II. We need about 10 volunteers to cook, serve and clean up. Contact: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Food Servers
We need Food Servers at most of our functions where food is served. Food service is usually in a buffet arrangement, not table service. We decorate tables appropriately for each occasion and clean up the ACC after the function is over. Contact: Nancy Genovesi at 495-5813.
International Dinner
This is truly a "United Nations" of food. Booths serve ethnic dishes from the many heritages we have at Ascension. Volunteers chair the booths and we ask for volunteers to help cook the wonderful foods and serve the patrons as they leisurely stroll through Europe , Asia and South and Central America . Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Pancake Supper
Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper leads us into Lent. Volunteers cook, serve and clean up. Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Spring Festival
This is our largest social event of the year. We need 300 people (kids, adults and seniors) to make this event a success. It is a major fund raiser, about $35,000 of revenue each year. This is a three-day event (Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday until 4:00pm ). Our preparation begins in January and the Festival is held the first weekend in June. Preparation includes planning for games, prizes, raffle, menu, and amusements. Support is needed to chair booths, booth workers, cooks, servers and ticket sales. Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
Bakers
People to bake during the year for special events. Contact Person: Linda Flores 467-1167 or ltttm@aol.com.
