Small Faith Groups
We want to help you find a Small Faith Group!
What are “Small Faith Groups”?
- Small faith groups are one of the many ways that Church of the Ascension parishioners come together to learn, discuss and support each other in their Catholic Christian journey.
- Small faith groups can come together based on common ground, such as neighborhood, stage of life or gender. Or, they may be based on a shared interest in a particular program of study, or just simply a day of the week that works best to meet.
Why is Father Daniel and Church of the Ascension supporting and encouraging the formation of Small Faith Groups?
- Our parish has a number of members participating in such groups, and Father Daniel wishes to expand opportunities for others to participate in or form such groups.
- Survey results after various formation programs have indicated that the most overwhelming benefit of the program was the fellowship of the group.
What are the benefits?
- Meeting new people who share the same faith
- Building community
- Strengthening personal faith
How can I join a group?
- If you are interested in joining an existing small group at Ascension or in starting a new group, please call or email Janet Jones, Director of Religious Formation. (757-495-1886 x43 or [email protected]) Parish volunteer for Small Faith Groups, Ron Vessell, will contact you directly to answer your questions and help you find a Small Faith Group at Ascension.
Are there resources available for study? Or can you recommend study materials?
- There are some available programs in the Religious Education office that can be loaned out. In addition, Janet Jones ( (757-495-1886 x43 or [email protected]) or Ron Vessell can assist you in finding an appropriate study to do.
