Reflections by Fr. Chuck

Then he called them. So they left their father....and followed him. (Mark 1: 19-201).

Blind Faith: The ability to obey and follow a person or conviction, without knowing the outcome.

We hear two stories of blind faith this weekend. In the first reading a scared Jonah obeys God and calls an entire city to repentance. He could have been killed, or harmfully attacked for doing that. But he did what God told him to do. Blind faithin God.

Four simple fishermen did the same in the gospel. Jesus asked them to follow him. They obeyed in blind faith. They left their family and their work, with no idea of how they would live. They did it out of obedience to Jesus. Blind faith in Jesus.

How we all long for blind faith, the ability to trust our God! People should read their money more often; "In God we trust".
