Coordinator of Youth Ministry
Church of the Ascension is seeking at full time (35 hours a week) Coordinator of Youth Ministry. This candidate must be a Catholic in Good Standing and have a passion for working with Middle School and High School aged youth.
The Coordinator for Youth Ministry engages the youth (6-12 grade) of the parish and provides formal faith growing opportunities as well as informal. Middle School responsibilities include oversight of the Catching Fire Middle School youth program. High school responsibilities include oversight of Youth of Ascension program and Confirmation program. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Religious Formation and the entire faith formation staff to build connections between the Pre-K3 and 5th grade formation and those in middle school and high school youth ministry groups in the areas of mentorship, leadership, and faith-related activities throughout the year.

Coordinator of Initiation (OCIA) and Sacramental Preparation

If you’ve answered yes to any or all of these questions, the position of Coordinator of Initiation (OCIA) and Sacramental Preparation may be for you.
Ascension’s Faith Formation Department seeks a Coordinator of Initiation (OCIA) and Sacramental Preparation who will work with the formation staff and volunteers. This is a part-time, 15 hours per week, hourly position.
Responsibilities and requirements include but are not limited to:
- Must be a Catholic in good standing willing to journey with those desiring to join our Catholic faith and those seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion.
- Must have experience with and a working knowledge of the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), formally RCIA, including the selection of sponsors, the formation of an OCIA team, and parishioner engagement.
- Must have experience with the catechesis/instruction of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion.
- Must have excellent communication skills as they will be interfacing with those seeking entrance into the faith, parishioners in person, via email, and on the phone.
- Should be comfortable using technology, such as computers, copiers, etc.
- Must have experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and be willing to learn Flocknote (training provided).
- Scheduled hours will be determined in collaboration with the Director of Religious Education, taking into account the needs of the Inquirers, Candidates, Catechumens, and preparation for other sacraments.
- Recording sacramental records and notification to other parishes about sacraments.

Part Time Communication Coordinator
Church of the Ascension seeks a part-time Communication Coordinator to manage Ascension’s communication avenues to ensure that parish information is being disseminated on multiple platforms to staff, ministries, and parishioners within the parish. Collaborates with Pastor, Director of Administration, parish secretary, other staff and other parish leaders to ensure parish activities are being “advertised” correctly and consistently, when appropriate.
This is an hourly position with a workweek of 15 to 18 hours. Normal workdays are anticipated to be during parish office hours, and occasional weekend and evening hours are required for some meetings.
Qualifications needed include, but are not limited to, education or experience in communication, experience with social media platforms, strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and due to the Evangelization nature of this position, the person must be a Catholic in good standing.
